Peter Webb, Senior Vice-President, Concord Pacific Developments Inc.
“From the top down our President and CEO, Terry Hui, is committed to cycling. It’s truly the axis of where sustainability and wellness meet. Amenities like this not only support sustainable commuting they foster healthy micro communities within the development and encourage residents to get outside and take advantage of the outdoors together. Significant biking infrastructure and accessibility will be an important piece of all our next generation communities.”
Olivia Lam, Principal, LIV Design
“We wanted to create a welcoming space that fostered a sense of community that encouraged human interaction and connection – something inspired by the Burnaby biking community itself, and something that was much needed after the pandemic. Using our VLD process (Visually-Led Design), we were able to work with landscaping and architecture to allow as much natural lighting as possible into the space underneath the park. Not only that, it allowed us to manage nuances like lighting temperature against the chosen materials to evoke a warm and inviting space.
To celebrate our commitment to cycling culture, Concord Pacific will be hosting the Concord Metrotown Bike Festival. It will be an afternoon festival beginning at 1pm including an iRide youth cycling zone for kids, DJ entertainment, a community bbq, prize draws, displays of rare bicycles, Trek bike demos, free bike tune ups from Velofix, Metro Vancouver Transit Police bike registration, and vendors including EnRoute and fun stickers for kids from Jukebox Print and more.
The spectator-friendly Tour de Concord race will begin at 3pm. It will be on a closed course bordering the future home of Concord Metrotown where Cat 1 & 2 racers will contend for $5000 in prizes. Prior to the race start, the public will be able to take turns on the course.
Registration for the event will help Concord safely plan the event. Registrants for the Festival will receive a choice of concessions. Race details and event sign up will be made available on concordmetrotown.com and concordpacific.com.
